Resource Friday- JellyBird Designs

What is resource Friday?

Every Friday I feature a musician, poet, author, entrepreneur or speaker who has incredible material. I believe that as Christians we can help one another grow by providing each other with Biblically sound resources. Every resource I suggest is of someone who's work I truly believe in and/or use myself.

This week’s resource: JellyBird Signs

As a fellow etsyian and handmade designer, I find it very exciting when I discover other individuals who are both apart of the handmade community and Christians. I discovered JellyBird signs on Instagram and not only was I impressed by the quality of their work, but even more so by the strength of their character and their unadulterated love for Jesus! Check out their shop on Etsy by clicking here. As a note, this shop sells out QUICKLY, so be on the lookout for when they list new items!

Happy Shopping.

What are the different types of prayer? (Part One)

Prayer should be an awesome experience. Prayer is the most intimate way in which we can communicate with God, but prayer is also a strategic way to experience supernatural power here on earth. There are several different types of prayer that are mentioned in scripture. When used appropriately, they have real life application results.

Here are the types of prayer:

Corporate Prayer- This is when believers come together and pray in a group.  (See Matthew 18:20)

Prayer of Petition- This is when a believer comes before the Lord and asks for what they need.   (See Philippians 4:6)

Prayer of Repentance- This is when a believer confesses to the Lord that they have done something sinful and they repent and request forgiveness from God.  (See Psalm 51)

Intercessory Prayer- This is when believers pray for other people (anyone outside of themselves). (See 1 Timothy 2:1)

Prayer of Thanksgiving- this is when we come to the Lord and we thank Him for who he is and what he has done. In this type of prayer where we honor him for everything He is and we show how grateful we are. (See Hebrews 13:15).

One of the faith journeys that God has had me on for a while has been the journey toward weight loss. If you have ever struggled with emotional eating, an eating disorder, or simply just self-control when you see a piece of chocolate cake (yummy!) then you understand how difficult it can be to have victory in the area of weight loss. Trust me girlfriend, I get it. While I am still in the process of weight loss, I have found that certain tools and techniques have aided in my weight loss experience, the Made to Crave DVD being one.

If you have sought out Christian resources on weight loss you may have heard the name Lysa TerKeurst. Lysa has an incredible, bestselling book called "Made to Crave."  The book discusses Lysa's own struggles with food and gives fantastic spiritual insight on how to navigate the world of healthy eating. Lysa has created many supplemental materials to coincide with her book including a devotional, audio book, and the Made to Crave DVD.

I greatly enjoyed watching the Made to Crave DVD because it has short, live segments where Lysa discusses elements and stories from the book. The DVD also has action plan questions so that going forward, viewers can decide for themselves what behaviors they want to work on to aid in their weight-loss/food changes. The DVD is great for personal study or a small group. I hope you check it out.

Happy watching!

Though you may not be familiar with her as a performer, Mia Fields is no stranger to the music business. She has spent a bulk of her career working as a songwriter, writing for other artist. I follow along with her posts on Instagram and I was delighted to see she had recently released a EP that showcased both her singing and songwriting skills. The song “Fearless” is from her recent EP project entitled Ashes. Mia’s honest lyrics in the song “Fearless” will leave you worshiping at the feet of God. Her gentle, but confident voice gives way to easy listening. If you haven’t already, I would definitely suggest checking it out!

Happy Listening!

I love worship music and I enjoy finding different versions of my favorite worship songs. It’s so fun to hear a song that I like take on a whole new art form. Christafari is a Christian reggae band that has both original music and worship cover songs. I like their take on the popular worship songs 10,000 Reasons and Oceans. If you haven’t already, I would suggest you give them a listen.

Happy Listening!
