Resource Friday: Battlefield of the Mind (November 7, 2015)

What is resource Friday?

Every Friday I feature a musician, poet, author, entrepreneur or speaker who has incredible material. I believe that as Christians we can help one another grow by providing each other with Biblically sound resources. Every resource I suggest is of someone who's work I truly believe in and use myself.

This week’s resource: Battlefield of the Mind

Each one of us has a war in our mind. In some shape, form or fashion, we each have some portion of our mind that daily needs renewing to be more like Christ. From the time I was very small, I have battled with debilitating fear and anxiety. For a long time, I did not realize these struggles were caused by the thoughts I allowed to enter my mind. My thoughts ruled me, I didn't rule my thoughts. For years I believed it was impossible to control my thoughts. My senior year of high school, I was given a copy of the book Battlefield of the Mind and it has forever changed my life.

In this book by Joyce Meyer, Joyce discussed all of the ways in which our minds can be a battlefield, for example, fear, worry, wandering minds, and even jealousy. She gives real life application stories to show how each issue in the mind can affect us. I found that reading this book provided not only immediate healing in my mind in some areas, but also incredible guidance on how to work through the challenging parts of my thought life. Whether the battles in your mind are mere nuisances or are raging wars within you, I suggest you check out this book.
